A Day at the Races

We got all Kentucky Derby-fied this weekend and headed out to Golden Gate Fields for a day at the races courtesy of Groupon. Having read the book Seabiscuit in high school, I was pretty much an expert on everything that was going on.

Topped the day of with a Zac Brown Concert (not a big country person, but they're fun!) and spent Sunday having a nice little lake-side picnic at Foothill Park.

Life's tough lately, send words of encouragement ;)

FAQ's

Since I know you've all been dying to know, I figured I'd help answer them for you...

Jess! How's life?
Life is great. I currently shower more at 24 Hour Fitness than my own apartment and change my clothes more in my car than in my room. Homeless, you ask? Not quite. I'm coaching a high school varsity girl's lacrosse team and squeeze in a workout on my lunch break then rush right over to practice from work.

You coach a lacrosse team!? How is it?
I love it, it's so fun to be involved with lacrosse again. I rotate back and forth between feeling middle aged because I am old enough to be coaching, and feeling like a teenager since I spend more time with 16 year old girls than my own friends. Prom, college apps, and AP exams have once again taken over my life. I think my social skills might be deteriorating a bit, hopefully I don't start developing crushes on 17 year old boys.

Well what else have you been up to?
I've made a couple trips to Utah to go skiing with friends from high school and to celebrate Easter! We also went to Arizona to visit family and enjoy the weather and I've been having fun exploring San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, etc. a bit more. I'm REALLY excited for the upcoming months for a girls weekend with friends from college to L.A., family vacation in Hawaii, and a few weeks in Southeast Asia. Cross your fingers that whole adventure doesn't turn into a scene from Brokedown palace.

Did you see Hunger Games!?
Yes, of course. At midnight. It was awesome and intense. I also saw Titanic. The most popular girl in my 6th grade class saw Titanic 13 times and bragged about it. Well, I'm not there yet, but I'm on my way. Maybe one day I can be as cool as her.

Anything else we should know?
Well, sure. I'm currently loving the tv show Smash, check it out. I'm reading "The Sound and the Fury" by Faulkner. If any of you have read this, please, help a sister out. I'm not getting it. Thirdly, Naples-style pizza might be the greatest thing in the world. If you ever come to San Francisco, go to "Una Pizza Napoletana" if not, try and make do with what you can. I'm in love.
